i know we've been saying this about every new shitty update but i feel like removing reblog chains could really be the thing to kill this site. like that is literally the main thing that makes tumblr unique
truly the only reason you still see tumblr posts reposted constantly on other sites which claim tumblr to be "dead" is because of our unique form of collaborative posting. also you would not only be taking away what makes the site unique but also the main form of socialization between the users which yknow. some could say is the basis for your whole fucking social media website
why'd this get 100 notes in an hour on a wednesday morning damn 😭 we're real fucking annoyed about this huh
FFXIV Patch 5.3
We kill Elidibus?! I totally thought he was going to be a major boss of Endwalker! Very surprised out here.
Like Zenos is fun in his own way but I was looking forward to more of the Amaurot stuff, and with all of the Unsundered Ascians dead, it doesn’t seem like it will happen quite so much.
Love G'raha Tia though, he’s very funny.
Interested to see what happens in Endwalker: I thought with Elidibus as the Endwalker boss, we’d end up fighting Zodiarc. Wonder if that’ll still be the case.
Sorrow of Werlyt (Shb spoilers)
Just finished the sorrow of werlyt trials for ffxiv. and oh man. the feels. I am losing it. Like it’s so sad. and you can see how Gaius’ ideology led to his kids being fucked up in this way. and it’s like, you feel sympathy for him, it’s so tragic. like all of them died in a tragic way. the empire is in the midst of a civil war (I think? Gaius is dead and Zenos is MIA? could be very wrong tho, I’m not too far in post patch content) its possible if they took a chill pill and killed the guy in charge this whole things didn’t need to happen this way.
especially the one where the kid became Gaius? like oh man. that’s so fucked up.
cause also it’s just an especially messed up way to go. like merging with the machines. oh dear.
Anyway, thought it was really good, just had an emotional reaction I wanted to get out.
Gotta love how if you’re playing a tank or healer, at the first sign of uncertainty or confusion one of the DPS players will assume you’re a little baby who has no idea what they’re doing and proceed to explain how to do your job like you’re a complete noob. My dude we are doing a level 40 dungeon, I may not be level 90, I may still be a sprout, but this is not my first rodeo. Recent examples:
1) A rogue explaining to me that the tank ‘needs to be in front, the tip of the spear!’… after it had been established that I was used to fully clearing this dungeon with a group of NPCs, not doing the speed-run with fellow sapients, which was established because I’d just tried to spear tip and they didn’t want to follow me and clear the whole dungeon.
2) A red mage telling me, “If no one’s dying, a healer should focus on DPS.” So sorry, used to running higher-level dungeons at the moment where I need to focus fully on keeping the tank alive, also as a white mage my dps spells are very slow compared to literally everyone else in the party’s, the mobs are dead and you’re running to the next group by the time I cast one.
TL;DR: Tanking can be fun, and I genuinely like playing a white mage, I enjoy the mechanics, like the graphics, and feel very useful, but my fellow players are testing me.
So, while we're all trying to fight one of the other terrible "think of the children" bills trying to ram its way through Congress, KOSA, we should also be talking about The EARN IT Act.
Long story short, it's basically yet another surveilance bill using a "protect the children" bill, as a hideous meat-suit, putting restrictions on sites that'll make them even more vicious towards NSFW content, creating a climate where using a VPN might be a crime, and they'll be creating a federal committee to decide how best to spy on us!
Long story long, well, the Linktree is right here.
Beyond the stuff in the Linktree, I urge you to directly contact your congresspeoples and tell them to kill this bill, especially if they're on the Judiciary Committee, which is currently marking up this bill.
The members of the committee are:
- Dick Durbin, Illinois, Chairman
- Dianne Feinstein, California
- Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island
- Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota
- Chris Coons, Delaware
- Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut
- Mazie Hirono, Hawaii
- Cory Booker, New Jersey
- Alex Padilla, California
- Jon Ossoff, Georgia
- Peter Welch, Vermont
- Lindsey Graham, South Carolina, Ranking Member (Ugh)
- Chuck Grassley, Iowa
- John Cornyn, Texas
- Mike Lee, Utah
- Ted Cruz, Texas (Double-ugh)
- Josh Hawley, Missouri
- Tom Cotton, Arkansas
- John Kennedy, Louisiana
- Thom Tillis, North Carolina
Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee(she cosponsored the bill, so probably not)
So yeah, do what you can, even if it's just boosting this terrible, terrible danger we need to thwart.
And, I will add, as with my previous KOSA poster, this poster is officially, for the sake of spreading it, under a CC0 license.
Feel free to spread it, remix it, add links to the bottom, edit it to be about the other bad internet bills they’re pushing, use it as a meme format, do what you will but for gods’ sake get the word out!
...And yes, for the record I was thinking of the Judas Priest song when I came up with the tagline for this one.
So, Dove soap and Lizzo are endorsing KOSA, in the name of "social media is bad for teens' self-esteem" (even though that's bullshit) and I am mad.
If you don't know, long story short KOSA is a bill that's ostensibly one of those "Protect the Children" bills, but what it's actually going to do is more or less require you to scan your fucking face every time you want to go on a website; or give away similarly privacy-violating information like your drivers' license or credit card info.
Either that or force them to censor anything that could even remotely be considered not "kid friendly." Not to mention fundies are openly saying they're gonna use this to hurt trans kids. Which is, uh, real fucking bad.
Given that in terms of their actual products they don't have a direct stake in it, it might be possible to get Dove to rescind this (can't find contact info for Lizzo sadly), if you want to contact Dove about this, here's their contact page.
And, as per usual, I urge you to contact your congresscritters, especially given that as of now (Thursday, 4/13/2023) they plan to re-introduce the bill this Monday, and we're going to need a flood of people saying this is awful to kill it.
Reblogging to mention, along with the other Stop KOSA stuff, Fight for the Future has started a petition to tell Lizzo to rescind her support for KOSA.
So, if you want something to sign...
literally the bill provides a penalty of $250k and a minimum of 20 years for *using a vpn to access a website*. the list of banned websites can be updated at any time be an unelected appointee with no oversight or warning or even public announcement
It's bad, like, really bad. Fortunately, it's only been introduced to the Senate, and hasn't been voted on yet. There's still plenty of time to contact your representatives!
(Also, if you want to check out exactly how bad it is, you can read the bill here:
